Overview: A Routine Patrol Turned Nightmare
What starts as a routine police operation quickly devolves into a desperate fight for survival. In It Reaches, you step into the boots of Officer Jason Thompson as he finds himself trapped inside the decaying, claustrophobic underground facilities of an abandoned hospital complex. You aren’t alone in the dark—something relentless, Grotesque, and entirely without mercy is actively tracking your every move.

The Mechanics: Unrecord Meets Amnesia
The standout feature of It Reaches is its execution of the hyper-realistic, fish-eye bodycam perspective. Visually reminiscent of tactical shooters like Unrecord, the game twists that immersive viewpoint into pure psychological horror.
Unlike standard modern horror titles where you simply run and hide, It Reaches demands physical panic management:
- Manual Breath Holding: In the game’s suffocating silence, your own body is your biggest liability. Players must manually hold their breath to stay silent as entities pass. Hold it a second too long, however, and your character will let out a desperate, loud gasp for air that instantly exposes your position.
- Survival Pacing: The game loop leans heavily into classic, old-school survival horror roots. Expect tight inventory limitations, scarce ammunition, and environmental puzzles (like tracking down fuses and keycards) that require you to thoroughly navigate dangerous territory rather than just sprinting through it.

The Verdict: A Nightmare Worth Stepping Into
Having spent time with the game, I can confidently say that the gameplay loop alone feel decent. The controls feel responsive, which is crucial when you are trying to navigate claustrophobic corridors in a panic.
Visually, It Reaches is a standout. The graphics look great, utilizing high-quality textures and superb dynamic lighting to make the abandoned hospital feel genuinely dangerous. That visual fidelity is backed up by an incredible audio design; the soundscape and atmosphere are dark, heavy, and deeply creepy. The game does a masterful job of keeping you in a state of constant paranoia—I genuinely never knew if the next step I took was about to get me seen or heard by whatever was stalking me.
Thankfully, the experience isn’t bogged down by frustration; the puzzles strike a great balance, offering a fun challenge without being overly or unfairly difficult.
Final Rating: 8.5/10 (Must Play for Horror Fans!)
